Programme highlights
Digital City refers to a connected community that combines reliable information infrastructure based on open industry standards; and innovative services to meet the needs of governments, citizens and businesses. Information and its transmission become the most important part of a digital city. Such information may include financial, communication, transportation, tourism and shopping etc., which work together to form a cyberspace serving urban and inter-city livings.
The development of digital city for Hong Kong and cities in Mainland becomes increasingly important to support further cooperation between Hong Kong and Mainland and in turn to support the future economic growth. The challenge lies not only on building sustainable information infrastructure, but also on making enabling policies to facilitate information flow, on developing innovative IT solutions in supporting community to realize the IT benefits and on preparing citizens to be ready in making use of the technologies, policies and IT solutions.
A panel of IT professionals, business leaders and government officials are invited from Hong Kong and Mainland to share their perspective on developing sustainable information infrastructure and solutions for the local community in Hong Kong as well as the Mainland.
