Jointly organized with ITD, AMC, CAD and BMD
Date, time & venue
25 January 2010 (Monday), 18:30-20:00, HKIE Seminar Room
Programme highlights
While noise control may place itself as a primary concern for most of the architects and engineers regarding auditorium acoustics, subjective concepts related to sound quality are as important to emphasize quality performances. Well-assimilated concepts like decibels, sound insulation ratings are replaced by more subjective concepts such as room intimacy, warmth, clarity and intelligibility, etc. The seminar will provide an overview of auditorium acoustics supplemented by case studies. Moreover the speaker will address the forthcoming acoustic challenges by use of glass, steel or concave shapes in performing venues, and the latest solution of new technology such as 3D computer simulations, new building materials.
